K9 Mums’ Achievements

Total dogs sterilised to date:

Our purpose is to reach a level of such magnitude that we will be able to contribute significantly to all animal welfare organizations worldwide in the form of food, medication, blankets, bricks, cement etc.  But most of all, our dream is to have as many dogs and cats spayed/neutered as possible in order to reduce the millions of unwanted kittens & puppies that are born each year.

We are so happy to list below details of dogs/cats that we have been able to help.

January 2009:  K9Mums’ first donation, at the request of Zanmari (see K9Mums Per Area) was made to Wolfshaven Animal Sanctuary in Gauteng.  The donation went towards the sterilisation of Tosca, Oortjies, Lilo & Kleintjie (see pic to the left).

During December 2008, Maxi of Wolfshaven was approached by a lady to place her four little dogs in other homes, as she could not cope with the expense any more.  None of them were sterilised or vaccinated.  Maxi asked her whether she would like to keep them, should she help with the necessary vet care and food.  In this way, they would not be traumatised by being torn apart and placed in different homes, and would stay in the environment they grew up in.  This was acceptable to her, as she was heartbroken at the thought of losing her babies.  They were brought in and sterilised, vaccinated, dewormed and micro chipped at no cost to the owner – then returned to their own home.  The total cost to the organisation was R2910.  K9Mums’ donation covered about 35% of this.
